Artist's Comments

On the ninth of April 1996 (or the fourth of September 1996, depending on how the camera date was set ^^; ) I was at Beans' Cycle Works on Half Way Tree Road, getting my bicycle fixed, when I noticed an orange Dodge Charger driving down the road. I was very fortunate to have my camera with me, so I whipped it out (yes, I mean the camera...) and took two photos: this one, and one after it had passed me.

I now know it was a '68 Charger because it has the '68 grille and bumper. Actually, it could be a '69 or '70 with a '68 grille and bumper, but... :shrug:

I had scanned these before and I show those scans at my CarDomain site, but I rescanned them for submission here.

:love: I love the charger, and IMO the '68 year was best.

I think so too. They tried too hard to make each year look different; if all three years looked like the '68 it would have been fine IMO.

However, the wraparound bumper of the '70 made it easier to attach the nosepiece in order to create the '69 Charger Daytona (yep, they used pre-production '70 bodywork on a '69 car. :nod: )

Aye, I didn't know that last bit of info :aww: But now I do.

The '68, '69 ish period was great for muscle cars.

Indeed it was! It was at its very peak in 1970 and declined quickly after that.

Indeed!

This was one of the rare moments where I was glad to have had my camera with me instead of sorry not to have had my camera with me. :D

I know what u mean! I was in Denmark this Spring when a Pontiac Firebird '78 drove by, Black, and I was like, HOT DAMN, and was about to run after (since it not to far from my favourite car, the '77 firebird) and I was so sad that I didn't have my camera ^^;

:( Sorry to hear.

The problem with walking around with a camera all the time is that one is always worried that it will be lost, damaged or stolen.

Even though I got a digital camera last Christmas, I hardly carry it around. Maybe I should start buying disposables again. The trouble is, when I walk around with a disposable, nothing happens, and the disposable becomes just one more thing to carry around.

Then again, who knows when another vehicle like this Charger will come around... decisions, decisions...
